Retired sewerage treatment plant

If you’re a birder you would visit sewerage treatment plants just for the fun of it. If you’re nearby Byron Bay there is a nice little retired sewerage treatment plant at Suffolk Park. With a broad estuarine waterway running along side, there is a great mix of birds, of which one is the Red-backed Fairy Wren.

On my last visit a few weeks ago the water was clear, the sky blue and the Red-backs were hopping about without a care.

I like Daffodils

Strangely, Daffodils have always been a favourite plant for me. Despite being “exotic” they are a plant that flowers near my birthday, (which is rare) and we had a patch of Daffodils directly outside our front door at Preston. Mum and I would watch them put up leaves and then we would wait for the flowers. Bliss.

Below are Daffodils I planted at Nyora two years ago and now they are flowering. Please forgive me those of you who see them as weeds.

Is it a tree?

I call them a tree fern but is it a tree? Wikipedia states “any fern that grows with a trunk elevating the fronds (leaves) above ground level can be called a tree fern”  I guess, in the end, it’s up to you to call it whatever you want.

Collingwood

No, not the football team.

I visited Collingwood today, not far from where I use to work over twenty years ago. It struck me how much I love the vibe of this inner Melbourne suburb but also how I took for granted its constructed landscape.

Now twenty years later, some aspects seem foreign and unforgiving.

Just saying
