Christmas day, a trip to the parents and a tour of the garden. A couple of years ago, we gave some bulbs we found in a gardening magazine to my parents. The flowers these things produce is remarkable,  they’re the size of trumpets. It must take a huge effort by the plants to produce such large flowers.

I met with Environmentally minded people at Eltham today. Nice site that has been neglected for many years but it looks like the remnant grasses will be saved. Check out the Danthonia 🙂

I visited some great little beaches today on the Mornington Peninsula. As you can expect, I was looking for Hooded Plovers but I didn’t see any. However, what I did see was great. Very secluded beaches that require a bit of effort to get to. Fortunately, people today don’t like effort.

In the photo you see a hole that separates one cove from another. Great hey 🙂

When you think about it, chickens are great birds and especially the males. Their plumage is so good and the comb is amazing. If they were rare and you heard off in the distant jungle you would be stocked to see one. In reality some people keep them and enjoy them, others only see them at KFC and have no respect for them.

I respect you chooks.

What is this plant?

Waiting for a friend to join me at a work breakup and yes, friend is female, I took my camera to the nearby playground. Looks like fun doesn’t it.

Crying out to be photographed.

This shell was crying out to be photographed and it was a good shot considering it was taken with my iphone. You can get pretty close with an iphone.

I thought locust were bigger than this.

I found this on a friends garage.

My mum said she heard on 3AW there were locust at the Rye Supermarket and this little feller was at Rosebud. There have been many of these at the Rye football ground and 14 removed from the Gym.

Is it a Locust?  I think it is 🙂

I happened to see this cow at a property whilst working.

The owners can’t eat it.

I couldn’t eat it.

It doesn’t want to be eaten, so why eat it?

A dead Holy leaf is a beautiful sight.

The Dandenong Ranges are a great place to see huge Mountain Ash, Tree ferns and delicate mosses. Best of all, as this photograph demonstrates, is the death of weed plants. Despite it being close to Christmas it’s pleasing to see the death of a Holy 🙂
