A photograph of Gibbo's new machine

Gibbo is a friend who recently bought a new machine. It makes wooden signs like the old router system but also more. It can do any font, size and all kinds of computer things. Hopefully it turns out to be a great little money earner for Gibbo, (Steve Gibson).

It’s very big and heavy so a bit of a nightmare getting it into the back shed.

An interesting little fern.

I saw a great little fern today at Nar Nar Goon North. The vegetation where I found this fern is like the Dandenongs but not quite the same. Less diverse but I have not seen this fern at the Dandenongs, yet.

I think it’s a Long fork fern, (Tmesipteris billardieri)

Tapestry

OK it’s been awhile but I don’t know of an album that has so many great songs and so many that are so well known. We had it on vinyl but only recently bought it on CD. Don’t tell Harvey but it was “on line”, naturally.

If you don’t know it do yourself a favour and listen to it.

I found this little bug on the bonnet of my car today as I was leaving our block at Nyora. It was not until I was on the South Gippsland Highway that I noticed him/her hanging on for grim death. I  was doing 100 KM per our and it occurred to me, this would have been like being in a cyclone.

I stopped at a remnant and let him/her go.

White wine grapes at Shoreham

There is something nice about walking down a row of grapes that will eventually become a wine.

New Holland Honey Eater

Mistnetting on Sunday the 30th January was relatively productive.

Results as follows:

6 White-plumed H/E, one Juv and one retrap, (first caught 2 years 2 months ago)
1 New Holland H/E
1 superb Fairy Wren
1 Little Wattle Bird
1 Eastern Yellow Robin (Juv)

Good to catch some young birds and especially an Eastern Yellow Robin.

The next mist netting session will be on a SUNDAY 20th of February. Be there around first light and bring a chair.

A big Mountain Ash and Armin

I love visiting the Dandenongs and I love the big trees.

This is a photograph of Armin in front of a large tree on his property. There is lots of great vegetation but also lots of weed control needed.

Below is a shot of the creek that flows through Armin’s property. Unfortunately, the photograph doesn’t do it justice.

A Blue tongue lizard found in Pumpkin patch.

Yes the Pumpkin plants are getting bigger and may flower this week. But there are more than Pumpkins in the Pumpkin patch.

I found this little fella whilst weeding. Hopefully he/she will be eating the snails etc.
